The Path Forward
As I reflect on this Day of service, the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on what would have been his 95th birthday, I think about his journey from a young minister in Atlanta under the guidance of his father to a civil rights icon. I look at his path and his journey and it causes me to ask, what is our path forward?
I ask this question because I see his strive for equality and although I know that we have not met his dream as a nation, we have made strides. The goal is that we must keep going. We are not to forget our own paths and struggles and the things that we have learned along the way with our struggles. I will be honest, there are days in which I feel that the obstacles of daily life are to arduous to bear. But that is when I remember Dr. King's quote-
"The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice."
We are able to do much more than we think we are capable of. Once you have your focus and your goal, move towards it, walk towards your path and do not be deterred.
